Smart Watch The Next Big Thing in Technology, Ever wanted your watch to be a techno gadget like the ones you see in spy movies? Well, to start off, how about your watch wielding the powers of your phone? How about receiving calls, texts and emails on your watch, instead of your phone? Won’t it save time and be more convenient than pulling out your phone from your pocket or bag every time you receive a call, a text or an email?
If the works of the three biggest players in the mobile technology arena are to be seen, then your desire can turn into a reality pretty soon. Apple, Google and Samsung are all working on Smartwatches, if reports are to be believed. Smartwatches have been around for sometime now, but they are nothing like their successors that are in the pipeline of the three technological heavyweights, Apple, Google and Samsung.
The Financial Times reports,
Google’s latest venture into wearable technology was more an attention-seeking gimmick than a serious new venture. But with the search giant ploughing significant resources into Google Glass, it’s another indication that Google is serious about moving from the digital to the physical – plans that seem to include a smart watch, too.
While Glass is being created in its X Lab, home to experimental “moonshot” projects such as the self-driving car, Google’s smart watch is being developed by its Android unit, according to a person briefed on the project, to act as an extension to the smartphones using that operating system. The project is separate from Samsung’s efforts, the source said, although there is no indication of when it might launch.
Samsung’s executive vice president of mobile business, Lee Young Hee confirmed that Samsung is also working on a smartwatch project. Apple’s iWatch project is quite famous. So, with all the three giants working to produce smart-watches it seems that this area of business is going to see a lot of competitions and innovations. But the winner will of course be the one that can produce a smart watch that has the functionalities of a smart phone and at the same time, is lightweight and has a small and sleek form factor. After all, no one wants his or her watch to be a bulky piece of jewelry! The sleeker, the better.
