There can be sometimes when you need to remove the jailbreak from your device, it may be a failed jailbreak, personal preference or when you install something bad and mess things up. In such situations the best option is to remove the jailbreak and redo it, removing the jailbreak is also a good practice when sending your device over for service. The customer service can act weird with a jailbroken iOS device, even when in most of the cases jailbreak is not the reason for anything bad, but any how removing the jailbreak is as easy as doing it. If you have followed our iOS 6 jailbreak tutorial using Evasi0n you know what i am talking about, to remove the jailbreak we can use iTunes.
Removing the jailbreak can be achieved using two methods either by Upgrading your device to the latest iOS version or restoring to a fresh iOS firmware file. I personally don’t like the upgrading method because in few of my trials i ended up in recovery mode, i avoid using this method as much as i could but the restore version always works. The advantage of upgrading method over the restore method is that you don’t need to restore your data and settings after an upgrade, if your restore you will have to use iTunes to get back all your data, movies, music, pictures and settings which can take time.
Here it goes, follow the steps below to Remove Jailbreak from your Device. This tutorial will work on almost all iOS devices like, iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, iPod touch 5, iPod Touch 4, iPad mini and all other iPads.
- First of all Back up you data and download the latest iOS firmware from our iOS Download Page.
- Open iTunes and connect your device to the computer.
- Once iTunes detects your device, click on its name on the bar.
- Now, depending on which method you want to use. Press and Hold Shift on your keyboard and click on Check for Upgrade or Restore button.
- Browse to your iOS firmware file and click Open.
- When done, you will have a fresh version of iOS on your device without any Jailbreak.
If you have gone with the restore process (which i recommend) you can restore back all your data and settings back to your device using iTunes.
