Downgrade iOS 6.1.3 to iOS 6.1.2 using Sn0wbreeze, since there is no jailbreak for iOS 6.1.3 is available so far now the only thing left to enjoy an untethered jailbreak is to downgrade your iOS device to iOS 6.1.2 so to untethered jailbreak it using Evasion jailbreak tool. Evasion Jailbreak.org’s writer Rich has compiled a tutorial on downgrading iOS 6.1.3 using redsn0w, the tutorial works but i am one of those who can’t get it through. The problem arises when putting the device in recovery mode and DFU mode, there is a very slight difference between putting your device in either of these mode, but any one i will show you another method of doing the same but it is much simpler.

This process involves Sn0wbreeze instead of redsn0w, for those who don’t know sn0wbreeze is a untethered jailbreak tool with a different work procedure. Sn0wbreeze doesn’t jailbreak iOS on your Device, but it makes a jailbroken iOS IPSW file that you can use to restore your device too. Since this iOS IPSW firmware file is pre-jailbroken, once you restore you don’t need to jailbreak your device anymore. This comes handy when you do frequent restores on your device, with a jailbroken iOS IPSW file you can just restore it and it will be already jailbroken.

This method is similar to the one stated above, the only difference involved is that we will stitch the iOS SHSH blobs with the iOS IPSW firmware file to make iTunes restore it without any problem. Follow the steps below to perform the downgrade.

  • iPhone 3G
  • iPhone 4
  • iPod touch 4G
  • iPad Original
  • iPod touch 3G

  • iOS 6.1.2 iOS IPSW File – Download it from our iOS download page.
  • Snowbreeze – Download it from our Jailbreak Download Page.
  • Windows machine – Most of the downgrading tricks don’t work on Mac.

  1. I already have the shsh for my iphone 4 can i just restore it with the ios 6.1.2 with itunes (shift … restore) then click the firmware?

  2. I did all the steps, but after restore the screen of my iphone 4 gone black and itunes says again that i have to restore. What can I do? Why is the screen black?

    • have you followed all the steps in order? Did iTunes said, the restore was successful? if yes then press and hold both power and home button for 5 seconds and release the home button, keep pressing the power button till you see the Apple Logo.

      • Followed steps in order, said restore was successful, and is stuck on black screen. (2nd times around)

        • this is a dfu loop caused by 6.1.2 (incomplete) shsh blobs from cydia.

          • which device are you using? and i have stated in the tutorial SHSH blobs from cydia might not work. You got to have them saved in your computer.(using TinyUmbrella). Since iTUnes has said “restore successful” simply use TinyUmbrella to exit recovery mode. Try Fix recovery if Exit recovery doesn’t work.

          • To exit out of recovery mode you have to tether boot using redsn0w with ios 6.0 firmware. I dont know why but its tethered!

      • No Itunes didn’t say that it was succesfull, everythings finish it seems like the iphone will restart but after the screen gone black it stays black. And when i holth home and power etc. nothing happens. And when I look at itunes they say for some secdonds that there are 2 iphones. I must add that I used the SHSH blobs and ipsw file of 6.0.1 not 6.1.2 because i don’t have them. Can I do something else?

        • I read your answer to Adam, now I try it with the shsh blobs from tinyumbrella, before i used them from cydia. (Maybe I can film the process or make fotos and can send it to you) I will message after my next try

          • see, the SHSH blobs here i am talking about is the one your saved using tinyumbrella when your device was running on iOS 6.1.2 that too when iOS 6.1.3 was not released.

        • Oh no, don’t do such things. SHSH blobs are unique to device and iOS firmware version. You using the wrong SHSH blobs can get your device bricked.

        • I know that they are unique but my device had 4.2.1 and not 6.1.2, because of that I had only the SHSH Blobs of 6.0.1, the device gets ok when I restore back to 6.1.3 so it is not broken.

  3. I upgraded 5.1.1 to 6.1.3. The SHSH were saved in Cydia, also 6.1.2. But downgrade to 6.1.2 got me the black screen…..
What can I do too downgrade right…..?

  4. Andrew Koehn says:

Same thing happened to me. Said it was successful and then got stuck on the black screen.

  5. hello mr Rich ….
I have ipad 2 wifi and updated it to version 6.1.3 unfortunately ! can I downgrade it to 6.1.2 please ?

    • oh, i am sorry it is not possible right now, but in the future yes. Follow us we will let you know as soon as possible.

  6. Ok Rich, I will give this another shot. I verified my SHSH blobs with Redsn0W, so i think they are good?? even though I retrieved them off cydia using tiny umbrella (all I had, remote blobs). I’m using an Iphone 4 Gsm 3.1. Will try to fix the recovery mode but as far as all the forums I’ve read you can’t. I’ve restored my phone/added all cydia sources/tweaks/apps/games/etc. so many times now. If this doesn’t work, I’m fine with 6.1.3 semi-tethered. Thanks for the help, I prefer evasi0n tethered by all means.

  7. my phone was in ios 4.1. i upgraded to 6.1.3 without saving any shsh blobs. after getting locked by 6.1.3, i unocked it using redsnow following the instruction given by absinthejailbreak. it did get unlocked. then i tried to roll back to 6.1.2 as you’ve given instruction. at the end finishing all process, i tunes detects my phone in recovery mode (did it twice). screens remains black. doesn’t reboot. tried to boot using redsnow. it says phone is in soft DFU.

i assume the problem is with shsh blobs? which blobs do i have to use? 6.1.3 or 6.1.2?

as i’ve said there were no blobs saved in my pc, i tried to retrive blobs both from cydia and tiny umbrella. cydia gave partial blobs for 6.1.3 and tiny umbrella gave full blobs of 6.1.2. in this condition, how can i proceed? how to solve the problems with blobs (if it is the reason)? or what can i do to get out from soft DFU?

or, what else can i do to wake up the phone and use it?

it will be very kind if you answer all parts of my questions.
    thank you.

    • you have to use iOS 6.1.2 SHSH blobs that too saved by tinyUmbrella from your device, SHSH blobs stored in cydia or downloaded from cydia won’t work as of now.

  8. I understand the instructions but the problem is I can’t seem to find my shsh blobs from iOS 6.1.2 so what do I do

  9. Thank you very much works perfectly.

  10. Hello can someone please confirm if this supports “iPod 3GS” it only says 3G in the description please reply thanks :)

  11. I have the iOS 6.1.2 firmware file but i don’t seem to have any 6.1.2 SHSH Blobs, is there any way i could still downgrade my iPhone 4?

  12. DennisBraxmeier@gmx.de says:

Hey dude. All worked perfectly but i have the same problem as everybody. i cannot leave the dfu mode. i just see a black screen. home + power 10 sec –> dont work. i’ve tried everything but it doesnt work. I open my iphone and disconnect the battery. –> nothing happened. I’m still in the dfu mode. pls help meeee.

    • this problem is caused by improper SHSH blobs for iOS 6.1.2 firmware, there is only 2 ways out of it.
      1. Use tinyumbrella to fix recovery and exit recovery mode.
      2. Restore to iOS 6.1.3 using iTunes.(will fix the device but will not downgrade to iOS 6.1.2).

  13. IGameSimulators says:

How do I get this SHSH files??

    • you had to got them saved when your device was running iOS 6.1.2 firmware.

      • IGameSimulators says:

So I can’t get untethered Jailbreak any more? I’ve seen there is a semi untethered Jailbreak with Redsn0w for older devices like iPhone 3gs and I have iPhone 3gs. Do I have to reboot the iPhone every time on the computer with semi untethered? Because I don’t like to do that :-/

        • yes, you can go for the tethered jailbreak using redsn0w and ya you need to boot it using a computer.

      • IGameSimulators says:

        And what I forgot:
Can I do sth wrong when installing Redsn0w?

        • Just follow all the steps as written and use all the proper software and files. then everything will go fine.

          • IGameSimulators says:

Ok, thank you very much for your help and your time. I’ll try jailbreaking my iPhone 3gs today with redsn0w. :)

  14. joel rincon says:

    does it work for iphone4s

  15. Hey Rich,

I did as the steps above said to do, and I got a black screen, like a few other users. I used SHSHs from TinyUmbrella while stitching iOS 6.1.2 in Sn0wbreeze, not from Cydia. Any advice? I’ve tried using TU and selecting Fix Recovery, as Exit Recovery isn’t available, but no dice. My iPod Touch still is stuck in Recovery Mode. Any help is appreciated.

    • you can restore to iOS 6.1.3 using iTunes to get out of recovery mode and give it another try.

  16. When will cydia for 6.1.3 come

  17. Stuck in Black Screen. Exit recovery option isn’t available in TU. Please Help

  18. does this work for iPhone 4S ?

  19. I tried again but still the same problem. I’m using proper SHSH. If i restore back to ios 6.1.3 and jailbreak it will i be able to restore ios 6.1.3 in future if needed? Thnx for your concern.

  20. Wait a second… I’ve downloaded SHSH blobs from TU. There were 6.1.2 blobs, even though I have never had 6.1.2 on my iPhone 4. Now if I downgrade from 6.1.3 to 6.1.2 I get DFU loops. Why didn’t you mention in the tutorial that you must have had 6.1.2 on your phone, SHSH blobs are not enough!?

    • Because having SHSH blobs for iOS 6.1.2 without having iOS 6.1.2 on the device is not possible.

  21. Hi rich recently I upgrade my iphone 6.1.2 to 6.1.3 withouth saving shah blobs. Now I want to restore back to iOS 6.1.2. Because I want evasion jail break. Now I tried to saved shsh blobs for iOS 6.1.2. But tiny umbrella say you are to late and there is no way to saved shsh blobs. I use ifait v1.5 and trying to save shah bllobs but it only save iOS 6.1.3 shsh blobs. Now I want to save iOS 6.1.2 shsh blobs because it is necessary to downgrading. Now please tell us method how to save shsh blobs for iOS 6.1.2. My device is iphone4 gsm model and its modern firmware is 4.12.5. Please help me urgently.

  22. This tutorial don’t work if the shsh is saved from ios 6.0.1 with iSHSHit and now is stored in my PC?
    Thanks.

    • yes, it won’t work that way. You will need real iOS 6.1.2 SHSH blobs saved using Tinyumbrella.

  23. Andrew Koehn says:

so the only way to downgrade is to use shsh blobs that you saved manually using TU. there is no way to do it if i get the shsh blobs remotely from cydia? if that is correct could i do the tethered jailbreak with redsnow on ios 6.1.3, then save 6.1.2 blobs manually. and then restore and downgrade?

    • No, this doesn’t work like that. You need to save the SHSH blobs when your device was running on that particular iOS version. You had to save iOS 6.1.2 SHSH blobs when your device was running iOS 6.1.2 on it.
And please don’t get angry, we are receiving hundreds of comments each day and our team is working hard to approve and answer them.

  24. this is a tethered jailbreak

  25. Is the jailbreak tethered or untethered meaning when I finish this will I be able to normal reboot or I’m going to have to use redsnow just boot ?

  26. O okay but I did it now how do u get it off of DFU cuz when u finish restore with iTunes it’s still stuck on DFU black screen . How do u get off that ?

  27. Please , who can help me :
i have an ipad 3 with ios 6.1.3 ( ipad wifi + cellular / third generation ), and i want to downgrade to ios 6.1.2 or 6 or 5.1.1 for jailbreak .

    thanks in advance

  28. I don’t think so that I hav saved that 6.1.2 shsh blobs so can I download that thing or I can’t downgrade my 3GS to 6.1.2

  29. christoppe says:

  30. I have an Iphone 4 but it says i have the A5 chip i tried this and keep getting an error 1600 on attempt to install.

  31. hi, i did as per the instructions above mentioned, but when i restore it through itunes everyhting is going well till the end and in the end it says itunes error 37. I dont understand, after that the phone is dead and i have to restoreto 6.1.3 through regular itunes. Please check and let me know.
